Florence & Tuscany

Day-trips from Florence

  • Pistoia Zoo

    Recommended by Kirsten Hills

Centro Yoga Om, Vilanova i la Geltru Image

A wonderful place to see a great variety of animals in Tuscan woodland. The zoo is very well kept, and makes a fantastic daytrip for youngsters.

  • Parco Foreste Casentinese

If you want to get away from it all then this is a must. Green open spaces, close to wildlife and nature makes it a perfect trip for the kids, especially in autumn.

  • Beach - Lido di Camaiore

his may not be the most secluded of Tuscany’s beaches, but it is one of the best for kids. It is an easy daytrip from Florence (just over an hour by car, more by train.) Rent an umbrella, deckchair and sun loungers, take a bucket and spade, and you are sorted for the day.

  • Prehistoric Park, Peccioli

You will need a car to get here, as it is a drive away from Pisa, but this is great if your little ones love dinosaurs- as it is a change to walk in Tuscany’s own Jurassic Park- with lots of large dino models.
