The Region of Lazio offers everything from sea and nature to good food and lovely villages rich in history and art. Rome, Italy’s capital, is a sprawling, cosmopolitan city with nearly 3,000 years of globally influential art, architecture and culture on display. Ancient ruins such as the Roman Forum and the Colosseum evoke the power of the former Roman Empire. Vatican City, headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, boasts St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums, which house masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes. And around Rome, the hills, lakes, rivers and vineyards make for a kaleidoscope of diversity and attractions for nature lovers.

Cross-Pollinate was founded in Rome, Italy in 2000 by an expatriate American couple, Linda and Steve, who packed up their apartment in Los Angeles and moved to Rome in 1999 to open an upscale hostel/hotel called The Beehive. Following their immediate success, they began Cross-Pollinate as a way to manage the overflow of demand that their small Beehive couldnt accommodate. Devoted to helping people and feeling a sense of responsibility for their recommendations, they sought out small, family run B&Bs, spare rooms, and private apartments as collaborators. What began as a handful of recommendations in Rome has grown to hundreds of private apartments, B&Bs and guestrooms in some of Europes most amazing cities: Rome, Florence, Venice, Paris, Barcelona, London, Lisbon and Istanbul. Cross-Pollinate is a handful of people who travel around and find cool places to stay. They inspect them, review them, and make sure the owners are ok to work with, so they can be accountable for their recommendations.
"Great web site and quick response from the team a CP, made the whole experience, easy and hassle free, I have already recommended CP to quite of few of my airline industry colleagues and Im sure they will make use of the excellent service provided to its clients" (SP, March 2013)
"Cross Pollinate was just the best. I had tried a couple of places before coming upon them. As soon as I sent the first email I stopped looking for any more web sights. I just wish they expanded to every city in Europe. Their knowledge, helpfulness etc was second to none" (Caroline Collis, march 2013)

"Celeste and I had a most wonderful cruise and our two day visit to Rome was an enjoyable and memorable experience. What made our visit to Rome special was our stay at the Beehive. Your friendliness, professional courtesies, the ambiance and cleanliness of the Beehive, your assistance in making our stay pleasant and your helpful guide to see the most interesting sites of Rome. Thank you especially for your thoughtfulness in gifting us with a bottle of wine to help celebrate my birthday, which, coincidentally, was the day I arrived at the Beehive. That gesture left an indelible impression on me. In my travel Ive crossed path with some special people who pride themselves in their jobs of providing hospitality services and I must confess that yours were excellent. You made Celeste and I feel comfortable and at home" (DA, March 2013)
