  • Pozzo dalla Cava, Orvieto

    Recommended by Kerry Waldron

Centro Yoga Om, Vilanova i la Geltru Image

There are a few attractions in Orvieto that explore its vast network of underground, manmade caves - some of which date back to the Etruscans - but this is the most child friendly. Visitors descend underground on a self-guided tour through different chambers and grottoes, several of which are decorated with ancient pottery fragments and antique tools. And of course, you exit into a café and gift shop!
Opening times: weekdays and holidays 9am- 8pm
Closed Mondays (non holidays) and the second half of January
Via della Cava, 28, 05018 Orvieto

  • Il Crocifisso del Tufo Necropolis, Orvieto

    Recommended by Kerry Waldron

Centro Yoga Om, Vilanova i la Geltru Image

This large Etruscan necropolis is laid out in streets and blocks, in a manner thought to mimic the Etruscan town that once stood on Orvieto’s tufa bluff. Though all of the artifacts have been removed to museums, kids will enjoy the chance to wander the narrow lanes and go inside some of the dark (creepy!) tombs.
Opening times: Summer times 8:30am-7pm Winter times 8:30am-5pm

    Comments:
"We love action films and really wanted to see James Bond, Hunger Games and Star Wars, so when we came across the ‘Original Version Wednesday night’ at the Perugia UCI cinema we couldn’t believe our luck! So far we have been four times and each time has been fantastic. Our first experience was watching Ed Sheeran, we were surprised by how many Italians had gone, so when we watched the other films we knew it was a popular service. Outside there are two restaurants, we have tried the 50’s Ristoburger  and had pizza and chips, very nice and reasonably priced. Our favourite treat in the cinema is the caramel and chocolate pop corn tubs. The staff are very friendly, helpful and help explained how the whole process worked. They do have a refreshment break half way through the movie and sometimes the movie has subtitled." (Camerota Family, Dec 2015)
